Liberation.

The Dutch hoisted their flags yesterday to celebrate the liberation of parts the Netherlands 75 years ago.

Many Canadian flags as well as Dutch.

The first quilt was created by a friend of a friend and the shark one is a quilt that Linda made for one of her grandsons. Such talent!!

Thanks, Maarten, for taking care of Arie for me. He looks great!

Flag trade launches freedom flag for the Achterhoek: 75 years of freedom

DOETINCHEM - The Algemene Vlaggenhandel Nederland launches a Achterhoek freedom flag. The now well-known green flag of the Achterhoek has been supplemented with symbols as a reminder of 75 years of freedom. 

The Achterhoek liberation flag has the logos of Canada and Great Britain at the top in the middle, 75 years ago the liberators of the Achterhoek. At the bottom in the middle the text '75 years' is displayed in red letters and below the word 'freedom' in blue letters. A torch runs through this text, the symbol of freedom.

The Achterhoek  is a cultural region in the eastern Netherlands. (And where we bought our home in Heelweg)

The Achterhoek area lies between the rivers IJssel and Oude IJssel.  

The region is predominantly rural, with much open space, forests and farms. A well-known beer originates from this region: Grolsch beer was first brewed in Groenlo in 1615.
